Nanorobotics

What is it?

Nanorobotics is the emerging technology field of creating robots that has components that are ar or close to nanometer size. Nanorobotics are largely in the R&D stage, meaning that they are still being explored and refined before they are to be put to use. Companies like IBM have used carbon structures like buckyballs and the carbon nanotube to create small machines to perform a variety of tasks (Citation 1). One of nanorobotics chief uses lies in the medical field.

Nanorobotics can be used to detect and eliminate cancer cells, repair DNA, monitor diabetes, and individual cell repair. Nanorobots, or nanites, can be self replicating, allowing them to be injected in to a human body, and remain to protect the human until said human has passed (Citation 2)
